Exchange Street Lift Bridge

The New York State Department of Transportations’s 3.3 million dollar reconstruction of the Exchange Street Lift is located in Lockport, New York.  The work consisted of total reconstruction of the 100 year old lift bridge, which spans over the Erie Canal.  The work involved removing and replacing structural steel, mechanical lifting equipment, concrete abutments, and approach roadway.  The reconstruction work was preformed during the winter months when the cancal was drained.
